Description
The estate owns 2.5 hectares in 3 parcels of Genevrières, one of which is over 50 years old. Approximately 1200 cases are produced each year. The 2000 vintage is a perfectly classic version of Genevrières. It has a lovely fragrance of lemon, grapefruit and toasted cocoanut in the nose and a terrific intensity of the same flavors on the palate. The finish is extremely long with hints of minerals and vanilla cream. This wine is beautifully balanced and has tremendous aging potential.

Reviews for 2000 Vintage
From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 138 (Dec 2001): "Points: 90-91. The super-expressive 2000 Meursault Genevrières is bursting at the seams with spice and liquid mineral aromas. This delightfully broad wine is medium to full-bodied, crammed with butter, spices, juicy apples, and pears. It is layered, muscular, plush, and fruit-forward. Enjoy it over the next 10 years." © The Wine Advocate

From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2002): "Points: 92(+?). Oily, charry aromas of iodine, hazelnut and powdered stone, with a hint of sulfides; at once rich and vibrant. Bright and incisive in the mouth, with bright acids giving the citrus, mineral and floral flavors superb definition. Finishes with a tactile impression of strong extract. This very young, strongly stony wine is almost painful today." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2001 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 90. Lemon, lime, pineapple, orange oil and hazelnut on the nose, with a whiff of vanilla from the 40% new oak; this, too, screams out Meursault.  Sweet and silky in the mouth, with harmonious acidity keeping the flavors fresh.  Nicely full, consistent wine with a ripe, lingering aftertaste." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2002 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 91-94. Complex, quintessential Meursault aromas of orange, lemon and nut butter.  Sweet, rich, broad and full, with its substantial volume leavened by lovely harmonious acidity (4.3 grams per liter).  Beautifully balanced wine with terrific richness and length.  The 2000 version of this wine offered superb precision, but this may be at least as good.  (A classic, penetrating Charmes was considerably more minerally and serious than the 2001 edition, but was still in the midst of its secondary fermentation.)" © International Wine Cellar

From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 151 (Feb 2004): "Points: 92-94. Produced from the highest section of Latour’s large parcel of Meursault Genevrieres, the 2002 explodes from the glass with spicy creamed anise, flowers, spices, and minerals. A wine of huge breadth, flesh, and depth, it is medium to full-bodied, massively rich, yet elegant. Loads of plums, white peaches, apples, pears, and spices can be found throughout its hedonistic core of fruit. Projected maturity: now-2011." © The Wine Advocate

Reviews for 2003 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2005): "Points: 90. Full yellow-straw color. Very ripe orange and a whiff of menthol on the reticent nose. The freshest of these 2003s, with flavors of soft citrus fruits, minerals and nuts. A bit youthfully aggressive but shows surprising verve, not to mention vineyard character. Very rich and fat, yet less obviously alcoholic and 2003 in style. This wine had the longest elevage, said Latour, who did not take it out of barrel until January of 2005. At the last minute, he declassified what would have been the Cuvée des Pierres into this bottling." © International Wine Cellar
